AIRCREW AND TACTICAL FLIGHT OFFICER COURSE

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Air Support Unit is proud to bring Instructor Lieutenant Clay Lacey to Alabama. Lt. Lacey brings 20 years and thousands of flight hours of law enforcement aviation experience with him. This experience includes criminal manhunts, surveillance, search and rescue, vehicle pursuits, foot pursuits, and airborne use of force. He is known worldwide for his advanced skills and instruction, including building TFO training programs from the ground up. Lt. Lacey is currently employed by the Texas DPS Aviation Operations Division. All attendees are sure to benefit from Lacey's knowledge, experience, and tactical skills.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

The Aircrew and TFO Course is designed to provide air support members the tactical skills and information necessary to safely and successfully support ground units. These skills will increase the effectiveness of the air support unit as they engage in a variety of law enforcement missions. This is a valuable course for the pilot, TFO, other crewmembers as well as unit supervisors.

The course will include:

• Advanced Suspect Tactics, Perimeter Containment, and Management

• Air Support to K-9 Operations

• TFO Selection and Training

• Management of a Vehicle Pursuit

• Elements of crew coordination

• Direct the activities of ground units from the air

• Legal Aspects of Airborne Law Enforcement

24 Hours of Alabama POST CEU Credits will be given for this training.

15 person minimum enrollment is required prior to October 1st.

The Training Center has rooms available on site for $15.00 per night on a first-come, first-serve basis.
