Features

Law Enforcement Agencies are deploying or are in the process of issuing carbine rifles to Patrol Officers, Supervisors, and Tactical Units. With that comes the need of having qualified Armorers or Range Masters to service and maintain these weapons on a regular basis. This course covers all M16/AR15/M4 & AR308 type weapons systems made and their variants. Armorers will be certified in the proper maintenance, care, and repair of these weapons systems, including semi-auto and select-fire trigger systems. This program follows the Manufacturer’s guidelines and is taught by FBI and NRA Certified Instructors. SWAT Magazine has featured SLR15 Rifles and Greg Sullivan “Sully” (the primary instructor for this course) as a cover story. Sully has also had numerous write-ups in Guns & Ammo Magazine, SWAT Magazine, Gun & Weapons for Law Enforcement Magazine, Shooting Times Magazine, Precision Rifle Magazine, and several other publications.

Here is a brief overview of what is covered during this very busy hands-on full 2-days of AR15/M16/M4/AR308 Armoring:

  • History of the Weapon
  • Cycles of Operation
  • Complete Disassembly / Assembly
  • Nomenclature & Components Identification
  • Inspections, Stress & Interval Issues, Parts Replacement Schedules
  • Accessories & Upgrades
  • Cleaning and Maintenance
  • Timing & Suppressor Issues
  • Barrel Replacement
  • Headspace, Firing Pin Protrusion & Gauging
  • Piston & Direct Gas Impingement Systems
  • Ballistic Issues
  • Trouble Shooting & Repair
  • AR308 Variants
  • Parts Interchangeability
  • Semi-Auto, Full-Auto, Burst Trigger Systems, & Conversions

All tools, manuals, and anything else that is necessary are supplied. Students are required to bring their own weapon systems to get familiar with their own configuration and modifications, plus this allows the time for a good thorough cleaning and inspection, plus we can replace and repair any parts necessary. This is a very intensive course that we cover in 2-days, so be prepared to get a lot of hands-on knowledge. The course starts at 8 am and runs until 5 pm with an hour for lunch.
