About the Event
Law Enforcement Agencies are constantly being challenged to offer a wide range of training and development for law enforcement officers. In order to provide this training, agencies must develop trainers who are not only experts in their fields, but who also have mastered the art of sharing this information with others. In order to be a successful instructor, you must possess more skills than just the knowledge and experience of a topic.
This seminar is for the trainer to learn what is involved in developing and presenting a class. The class will include:
- Assessing the need for training/topic
- How to research lesson guides/plans
- How to write lesson guides/plans
- How to prepare effective presentations
- Ethical Considerations for Training
- Psychology of learning
- Visual aids for training (PowerPoint)
- Handling different attitudes of students
- Much more
This five (5) day seminar is intense. Each day will have homework assignments. A working knowledge of PowerPoint is suggested but not required.
Students will need to come prepared with a topic to develop into a lesson guide/plan during the week and be prepared to present that lesson at the end of the week. Students will be required to pass a written exam (80% or above), successfully present a written and oral lesson guide/plan (85% or above), and complete all homework assignments (85% or above).
This class is a must for anyone who provides instruction to their agency or in an academy setting.
The cost of this course is $75.00
Registration on a first-come-first-serve basis. Class size is limited
