The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Victim Assistance Unit is hosting a Law Enforcement Based - Victim Assistance Training March 8-10, 2022.
This training will be offered to over thirty jurisdictions in Jefferson County and will provide in-depth information on establishing a victim assistance program as well as how to utilize the funding opportunities available to your agency for victim assistance. The information will be presented by agencies that offer advocacy to crime victims and survivors and law enforcement and victim interaction. The training will include a panel of survivors that will help you understand the importance of this program for your agency. In addition, the training will have representatives for DOJ, IACP, OVC, and ADECA talking about how you can utilize funding opportunities to establish a victim assistance program.
This agenda will provide you with a solid base for any agency looking to improve, expand or start a victims service program. The class is open to law enforcement and civilian law enforcement staff.
Registration will be at 8 am on March 8. The training will consist of 20-hours ( 1/2 day on Thursday). The training will be 20 Continuing Education Units. Meals will be provided, so it is important we have an accurate headcount.
