About the Event
Sergeant John Suess, Pinellas County Sheriff's Office was the lead investigator for the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Public Safety Commission (MSDPSC). This commission was established by the Florida Legislature to analyze the shooting at MSDHS (Parkland) and other mass-casualty incidents and to recommend improvements in law enforcement, mental health and school safety.
This presentation will summarize the investigative findings and recommendations for improving various systemic failures.
Topics will include:
- Background of K-12 active-assailant incidents
- Overview of the MSDHS shooter and shooting itself
- 911 and radio communications
- Law enforcement and medical response to the shooting and school safety issues
Those urged to attend are law enforcement personnel, School Resource Officers, emergency medical personnel, emergency/disaster relief planners, 911 and radio communications, and school personnel/administrators/counselors.
