About the Event
This course will refresh your skills in evaluating impaired driving suspects, from the initial observation of
the vehicle to the arrest and processing of the suspect.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recommends that officers responsible for
conducting DUI investigations attend refresher training to maintain both their skills in detecting impaired
drivers and proficiency in administration of the SFSTs. This course provides the latest revisions to the
program, along with relevant legal changes for DUI prosecution.
Topics Include:
Recognizing and interpreting evidence of DUI
Legal aspects of DUI enforcement
Administering and interpreting the SFSTs (to
include HGN)
Proper documentation techniques
Describing DUI evidence clearly and
convincingly
SFST proficiency

Prerequisite(s):
To attend this course, you must have successfully completed the NHTSA/IACP DWI Detection and Standardized
Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) course.
