About the Event
Whether you are new to the Spanish language or just want a refresher, this course uses a comprehensive approach to Spanish that will allow you to handle anything from basic traffic stops to life-or- death situations when dealing with Spanish-only speakers. Within the scope of this training, students will be able to read, write, and speak Spanish in three verb tenses.
Each student will be able to understand danger phrases, weapon terminology, investigate assault, robbery, domestic violence, drug slang, and obtain suspect/witness information. All students will have a working knowledge of Hispanic name composition and will be able to effectively run individuals through NCIC and their respective state crime information system. Students will learn important factors of Latino culture which will enable more effective communication and understanding while building trust and rapport.

- Overview of Spanish Alphabet / vowels
- Understanding numbers / Telling time in Spanish
- Understanding singular/plural – masculine/feminine
- Vehicle Traffic Stops / Violations to include felony stops
- Street Drug Terminology / Investigations
- Weapons Terminology / Danger Phrases
- Arrest Commands in Spanish
- Interview / Interrogation Questions and Responses
- Understanding Hispanic names / Culture / Perception of Law Enforcement
- Understanding Patron Saints of the Mexican Drug Underworld
- Crime Scene Investigations / Evidence Collection
- Human and Drug Trafficking Investigations
